Where do I find Distilled Water?

Where do I find Distilled Water?

For Australians, the Distilled water web site is www.distilledwater.net.au and the water is available at “Autobarn” Stores.
Those stores are Australia wide.
I am not saying these are the best available but are a good start.

Personally, even though I can get distilled water in many places locally, I prefer to make my own with the distiller I recommend in this eNews.
https://www.eagle-research.com/cms/newsletter/eagle-research-enotices/75-we-did-it

Some places can’t get distilled water so distillers are their only option.

Virtually ANY distiller will work and you can find plenty of options on Amazon or eBay (Do check out the reviews).
Recent study shows the WaterWise 9000 to be a good one (I haven’t tried it yet).

Other places have distilled water so inexpensive and readily available that it’s crazy to buy a distiller.

Here I can get distilled water for $1 per 4 liters in my local dollar store.

My electrical cost is $0.08 per kWh (night time cost).

So at 750 watts it would cost $0.06 per hour or $0.36 for 4 liters, plus I don’t have to take time to go to the store.

So it makes sense for me.

I have good Filtered, Spring, Well, Rain or RO water, can I use it?

I have good Filtered, Spring, Well, Rain or RO water, can I use it?

NOT to go into the AquaCure! , ER50 , HyZor

RO water is OK theoretically, if the RO unit is putting out 50,000 ohm water or higher.

Most people (and businesses) don’t properly maintain their RO units so the water quality (purity) goes down.  More impurities = lower electrical resistance.  If you don’t have certified 50,000 ohm water, don’t use it or used distilled (pure) water.

I’ve never (yet) found filtered water, Deionized (RO) water or Well water pure enough to use in the humidifier or AquaCure.

You’ll quickly see this if you buy a home Distiller and feed it with your Deionized (RO) water and/or Well water.

The problems are the IMPURITIES in the water.  Some cause poisonous gasses (you do not want to inhale), most cause rapid sludge formation which plugs internal orifices and some accumulate on the electrodes, causing the machine to eventually fail to make gas.  Some impurities cause foaming which results in rapid ejection of lye from your AquaCure, overwhelming the Humidifier and contaminating your Drinking Water.

As for the Humidifier, if the water isn’t PURE, it won’t adequately scrub the lye from the gas, resulting in lye getting into your drinking water.

You can use RO water for drinking, if you choose, but NOT in the AquaCure, filter or humidifier.
Several reasons, including contamination (electroplating) on electrodes, excessive sludge formation, poisonous gas formation and compromised lye scrubbing.

Use ONLY distilled water in the AquaCure, Filter and Humidifier.  As pure of water as possible.

You can use whatever water you want to drink in the Drinking Water Bubbler, but I RECOMMEND drinking only BG bubbled DISTILLED water too, as I’ve done since 2005… And I’m a LOT healthier now than I was then.

Many people think drinking distilled water is bad… But think of it as PURE water.  And when you enrich it with HydrOxy gas, it becomes the most healthful water on the planet (several world renowned water experts agree).

Here is my Blog on drinking distilled water.

All that said… You can put whatever water you think is best for you in the Drinking Water Bubbler (the water you actually drink).

Where can I get Lye?

Where can I get Lye?

I purchase my lye in bulk with special order at my local hardware store.
https://www.homehardware.ca/en/3kg-pure-lye-crystals-cleaner/p/3226431

Lye used to be available in most grocery stores and hardware stores but police campaigning has mostly removed it from those sources (it’s used to make Meth).

Lye (aka NaOH, sodium hydroxide and caustic soda) can be purchased online in quantity and cheaper than we sell it.

Just order 99%+ pure lye online.
It does not need to be ‘food grade’ as nothing about the lye touches ‘food parts’.  That’s for cleaning dairy pipes, etc.
99% pure is OK; food grade is just a bonus.

The main reason to get ‘pure’ is to be sure there are no ‘oils’ in the lye.
Oils (even a tiny amount) cause the electrolyte to ‘foam’ (make bubbles like dish soap) and the lye rides out of the machine on the foam.

You can buy lye online, or example:

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=sodium+hydroxide&ref=nb_sb_noss
It’s a good idea to buy in smaller sealable bottles, so that moisture won’t get in and cause the lye to set up like cement.  If it does, it’s still good, but getting it out of the bottle is more of a challenge.

Always buy 99+% pure.

https://www.truevalue.com/no-4-household-drain-opener-1-lb

For Australian users I found the correct Lye which has no impurities added for cleaning drains and that is “Glitz” Caustic Soda and is readily available at “Bunnings” Warehouse.

It does not matter what ‘form’ it comes in.  Bigger chunks just take longer to dissolve.

For the model EA-H160, you put in maximum 1 ounce of lye: UNLESS you have installed mechanical gas volume adjustment, then you can put in up to 3 ounces (80 grams) of lye.

For the model AC50, 3 ounces (80 grams) is the MAXIMUM to have in the machine at one time.

3 ounces (80 grams) gives you the maximum gas production without excess lye.  Excess lye can cause crystallization; which clouds the sight tube and plugging of hoses and orifices.

If using a hydrometer to measure specific gravity of the lye solution, it should read about 1.05 @ 20°C.

Anything close to that is fine (1.03 to 1.07); it does not need to be exact and naturally varies anyway, as the liquid level drops in the machine, the remaining solution becomes more concentrated.
