Q.
Do you keep adding anything to the HyZor?
(soda, acid, etc....)
A.
Lye (as a catalyst) is added during the
initial fill. After that you refill with pure
water. The lye stays in the ER HyZor and does
not need to be replenished.

Q.
What kind of water should be used in the ER
HyZor?
A.
Distilled water will reduce maintenance
requirements. De-ionized water is Okay. Do
NOT use tap water.
Tap water
is full of impurities. Water turns into
Brown's
Gas
(a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen), which
leaves all the impurities to form sludge in
the ER HyZor. The sludge will inhibit the
efficient formation of Brown's
Gas.

Q.
What if I have no steam-distilled
water?
A.
Simply wait until you can get steam distilled
water. The ER HyZor will keep itself shut off
until water is added. Most pharmacies sell
steam distilled water.

Q.
How often does the ER HyZor need to be
refilled?
A.
That depends on the amperage going through
the ER HyZor and how long the engine is
running. If the ER HyZor is using 2 Amps, it
will use about 5 mL of water per
hour.

Q.
What do I do with a sludge
buildup?
A.
It is a good idea to remove the ER HyZor once
a year to empty out the sludge.
Pour out the
sludge through a coffee filter so that the
electrolyte solution can be reused. Wash the
chamber by swishing it with water several
times. Be careful not to spill lye on
anything.

Q.
Will the ER HyZor work in sub zero
weather?
A. Yes! ER
HyZor Technology was developed in Canada over
a period of 20 years, before being released
in its present form.
In
temperatures colder than -30û the water:lye
solution will turn to slush. When the ER
HyZor turns on, the electric current will
thaw the slush. The ER HyZor will then
operate normally.

Q.
If the ER HyZor fails will it affect my
vehicle?
A. If the ER
HyZor fails to produce Brown's Gas, your
vehicle will act exactly as it did before the
ER HyZor was installed.

Q.
Can the ER HyZor be moved from vehicle to
vehicle?
A. Yes, it
can be easy to move the system to another
vehicle. It could even be 'built' in such a
way as to allow it to be moved to a vehicle
that is rented or borrowed for short times.
'Demo' units could be installed on
prospective customer's vehicles.

Q.
Is it essential to use sodium hydroxide
(lye)?
A.
Yes.
If lye is
not added as a catalyst the ER HyZor won't
produce gas because pure water has far too
high an electrical resistance. Electrolyzers
use a catalyst to lower electrical
resistance.
We've tested
many catalysts and discovered (for our
electrolyzer design) the most practical
catalyst is lye. It has the best balance of
user safety, low cost, ready availability,
high efficiency, environmental friendly and
electrolyzer component
compatibility.
By
definition a catalyst is not consumed in the
chemical reaction, so the first 'charge'
lasts the life of the electrolyzer. Put it in
only once, and then always add pure water
when the electrolyzer liquid level is
low.
